Tyrone's Conall McCann looks for a path against Down

Goals from Conall McCann and Ronan McHugh sent holders Tyrone on the road to a nine-point Dr McKenna Cup semi-final success over Down today.

Mickey Harte’s men advance to final showdown with Monaghan courtesy of a 2-16 to 1-10 win at the Athletic Grounds.

The first-half finished with the Red Hands 1-13 to 0-4 to the good.

They seized the early initiate through McCann’s goal while Darren McCurry found the target with six points in the opening 35 minutes.

A Cory Quinn goal gave the Mourne County a glimmer of hope in the second-half but McHugh’s three-pointer applied the gloss to Tyrone’s victory.

They now switch their focus to next Saturday’s final date with the Farney County.
