Doohamlet club notes

August 28, 2019

Senior Championship:  Doohamlet entered the lions den on Sunday last to face current County Champions Scotstown in this first round championship clash at sunny Clontibret.

To their credit Doohamlet played very well and put in a fighting display against superior opposition who scored goals at vital times to maintain a healthy lead.  Doohamlet had their moments too and played some good football  scoring some excellent points.  Jamie Walshe and Barry McBennett also found the net and management can be pleased with the effort shown.  In an overworked defense Kevin McArdle, Conor Marray Gavin King and Declan Walsh were most prominent with Dermot Kelly making his championship debut in goal couldn’t be faulted for any of the goals and his kickouts generally found their target.  Jamie Walshe and Ciaran McManus fought a brave battle in the middle of the park and upfront Colin Walshe, Barry McBennett, the McGinn brothers Hugh and Barry and Oisin O’Neill all showing well.

Doohamlet can take great encouragement from this display as we face our neighbours Blayney Faughs this Saturday evening in the back door Championship clash.  This is part of a double header in Clontibret.  Throw in 5.30.pm.
