Irwin looking forward to great game against Tyrone

Jason Irwin will have the honour of leading the Monaghan team out in Sunday’s Ulster MFC final against Tyrone at the Athletic Grounds (4pm).
“Yes I’m really looking forward to Sunday,” the captain said. “We won the minor final last year and we are back in the final again this year, and to be honest I cannot wait to get back at it again now on Sunday and we are all looking forward to it.
“This will be the third time we have played Tyrone this year, we played them in the minor league final earlier in the year and I suppose we suffered a bit of reverse that day, I think we lost by 6 or 7 points, but we got back on track in Carrickmore in the championship when we got the better of them and now on Sunday we will see who will come out on top.”
The young Oram lad was happy with how preparations had gone particularly since the semi-final: “Yes, preparations have gone very well, everyone is flying fit in training, although we have a couple of little knocks and niggles but hopefully all of that will have cleared up by Sunday.
“We got away fairly handy with regard to club fixtures because clubs were very good and didn’t ask us to play during the Ulster championship so everyone is okay and using that regime definitely did help.
“As regards the venue Tyrone will be very familiar with the Athletic Grounds because they played their semi-final against Derry here last week, but at the same time we played two or three times here last year and there are a few of us that know the surrounding there very well.
“It’s a great pitch, a great surface and I think it’s going to be a great game.”
