Monaghan Electric Intermediate League ;

Corduff Gaels registered their second  Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League win in their last match when they defeated Tyholland on home soil. In what was a pulsating first half the sides were level 4 times. Corduff smashed home 3 goals in the first half with 2 goals coming in the 15th minute, the first off the boot of Gavin McEnaney with the second coming within seconds off the boot of Jason Hand . The 3rd goal off the boot of Keith Mc Enaney just on half time put 4 between the sides by the half time whistle on 3-5 to 1-8.

The second half was played at a slower pace Corduff added to their tally putting 2 goals between the sides by the 7th minute after the restart 3-08 to 1-08 which was the last time Corduff scored in the match. As light faded Tyholland made a come back narrowing the margin to a point by the final whistle on 3-8 to 1-13. Once again Corduff had enough done to get them over the line and secure another valuable league victory.  Thanks to match sponsors The Mountain Dew and Brenglaze Windows.

Following a break of a week Intermediate action resumes this week with Round 4 on Saturday 27th April when Corduff are away to Donaghmoyne . Throw-in at 7pm.

Ladies Results:

U14 Championship: On Tuesday 9th April Corduff  U14 Ladies defeated Killeevan  to be crowned county champions. This group of girls completed the Gaelic For Girls programme and first played competitive football during  Feile in 2017 when their potential as a talented group of players became obvious. Then in 2018 they won the U14 Laegue and were knocking on the door of the U14 championship  eventually winning it this year. Led by captain Kerrie-Anne Walsh and managed by Barbara Ward this team had their sights set on the big prize! Having gone to extra time and a shoot out in the semifinal they knew how to dig deep and not give up which stood to them last week.

Killeevan totally dominated play and key positions in the first half with the scoreboard reflecting this at the interval on a scoreline of 1-08 to 0-4. However in a 2nd half turnabout the Corduff girls dug deep with scores eventually coming as they narrowed the gap and outscored Killeevan 3:04 to 1:01. In what was a great team performance Corduff never gave up until the final whistle. Killeevan always posed a threat and as the game went into injury time it led to a nervous finish but a Corduff goal proved the difference putting the black and amber side ahead by 2 at the final whistle to the loud cheer of the Corduff supporters. Massive congratulations to the team and management on this win. All the development work over recent years is paying dividends.

The panel on the day was Amy Nugent, Rachel Courtney, Francesca Gomez, Niamh McCahey, Eleanor Mc Keown, Moya Hegarty  (C) , Fiona Corrigan, Ellen Connolly, Niamh Murnaghan, Courtney McEntee, Charlotte Higgins, Shauna McEnaney, Rebecca McGivney, Amy Corrigan, Edel Hand and Ciara McCahey.

Off To Feile: Having won the U14 Championship the Ladies team will now represent Monaghan LGFA and  the Corduff Ladies Club at Feile Peile na nGael in Connacht this June. This is a brilliant achievement as it will be the first time Corduff will be represented at Feile and we congratulate the team and everyone involved.

U16 League: Corduff recorded a win over Inniskeen last week. They went from been 2 points down at half time to winning by 5 points which was a great turnabout. Congratulations to the team and manager Tommy Feeney on his first outing of the season!
