Triple All Star

Congratulations to Conor McManus on being presented with his third GAA/GPA All Star award at the Convention Centre in Dublin on Friday night, a great personal honour, not only  for Conor and his family but also for our club and our county.  How much it means to club members was amply demonstrated by the huge turnout on Sunday evening last to welcome Conor back to the club with his award, with dozens of children swarming around him.  Speaking on behalf of the club executive Kieran Lavelle gave a whole hearted welcome to Conor and reminded him that the huge turnout was a testament to his standing among club members and the community at large while his former teacher and coach Sean Mulligan spoke of Conor’s early interest in and proficiency at the game. There followed an enjoyable evening of autographs, photographs and reminiscences.

Juveniles

Our U17s beat Tyholland on Sunday in league semi-final. We play Truagh in the league final this Sunday 11th at 11.30am. No venue yet. Please keep an eye out on the venue and come out to give the boys your support in the final game of the season.

It was great to see the many parents and juveniles who turned out to welcome Mansy with his All-Star award to the club on Sunday evening. There was a great buzz around and there were certainly some future All-Stars in attendance.

New Pitch and Track

Work has been progressing favourably on our new development over the past few weeks. The new full size Prunty Pitch has now been laid, the seeds have been sown and the nice green is getting better looking every day. The 1km walking track which will be fully lit is currently being laid around the outer perimeter of both the new pitch and the existing pitch and should be ready soon. This of course means that we now move on to the next phase which is the erection of perimeter fencing, balls stops, goal posts and dug outs. To help fund this we will be looking for another year’s contribution from our Clontibret Our Future members and your promoter will be calling with you soon in the coming weeks.  Try to be as generous again this year as you have been in the past as much great work has been done and we now want to see it completed.

The Annual General meeting of Clontibret O’Neill’s has been fixed for Friday 30th November at 8pm . The Secretary’s report and associated  documentation will issue to paid up members this week and any paid up member who doesn’t receive same should contact the Club Secretary.

Good luck to the camogie girls who take on Fullen Gaels in the All-Ireland Junior B club semi-final in Glenavy on Sunday at 2pm. Come out and show your support to the girls in their big match.
