Seniors: The Seniors played Currin in Round 1B of the Intermediate Championship on Sunday last in Drumhowan and came away with a good win on a score line of 2-13 to 0-15. This was a game which was in the melting pot until the last few minutes but credit goes to the team who played till the final whistle to set up a contest against Doohamlet next Saturday evening in Castleblayney at 5.45pm. Going back to the game Currin started brightly with 2 pointed frees however the sides were level after 10 minutes with 2 Michael Bannigan points. Currin again took the lead with a excellent Jack Mc Carron point but our boys came back with a good well worked goal by Mark Mc Ardle after good combination work by Kevin Sheridan & Michael Bannigan. The next 10 minutes Aughnamullen upped the ante with 3 points from Michael Bannigan, Edmond Mc Ardle & Keith Sheridan whilst Currin replied with 2 Stephen Smith Frees. Two more points from Michael Bannigan & Pete Dooney however Currin scored the last score of the half to leave it 1-07 to 0-06 at the break. The first 10 minutes of the second half were dominated by Currin who scored the first 4 points of the second half to have the sides level. Another Micxhael Bannigan point had the Sarsfields back in front again but again Currin came back with 3 more points to go into the lead by 0-13 to 1-08. The next 2 scores were shared with our score coming from Michael Bannigan but a major turning point on the game then came after 18 minutes when Shane Forde pounced on a breaking ball in the Currin defence to scramble the ball over the line to the delight of the Aughnamullen Followers. This was increase to 4 with points by Pete Dooney and Michael Bannigan(2). Currin replied with another Jack Mc Carron point however Aughnamullen scored the last score of the game from Shane Forde to leave Aughnamullen victorious by 4

Sympathy: Sympathy is extended to the Mc Mahon Families Lisduff & Graghernagh and Castleblayney on the death of Eddie Mc Mahon originally from Graghernagh. Eddie in his younger days donned the jersey for the Laragh club and indeed was a member of the 1952 Dr Ward Cup winning side. In later year he was inducted into our Clubs Hall of Fame an Honour I Know he was extremely proud of. May God have mercy on his soul.
