County News:

Ulster Champions: Congratulations to Monaghan U17 manager Seamus McEnaney and joint captain Jordan McGarrell on their Ulster Championship victory last Friday over Derry in the Athletics Grounds Armagh. Having being defeated by Derry in the opening round of the championship Monaghan took the back door route and were victorious over Derry when they met  again in the final bringing the Ulster title back to the Farney County for the first time since 2013. Action resumes next week when they advance to the All-Ireland quarter final. Full details to follow.

Monaghan Senior  got their Super 8 campaign off to the best possible start by grinding out a victory over Kildare in Croke Park last Sunday. There was little between the sides throughout but Monaghan reigned superior by the final whictle. Monaghan now welcome Kerry  to Clones on Sunday for phase 2 of the Super 8's in what is one of their biggest matches to date and Corduff Gaels would like to extend good luck to Malachy and the team. All Monaghan supporters are urged to attend on Sunday. Throw-in at 4pm  and as always tickets can be purchased in advance in any Super Valu or Centra store.

Senior Ladies:

Intermediate Championship Quarter Final  Corduff 4-12 Aughnamullen 0-5

2018 Intermediate Championship action threw-in  with Aughnemullen hosting  the quarter final between themselves and Corduff.

Corduff entered this match following a very successful run in last year's Junior Championship by reaching the All-Ireland Final and have a very good Division 2 League campaign to date.

Despite missing some of last year's regulars Corduff got their Intermediate Championship campaign off to a flying start.

Corduff dominated the opening quarter and were 1-05 up before Aughnamullen registered their first score. Some bad wides cost Aughnamullen dearly and by the half time whistle Corduff had extended their lead  1-08 to 0-2.

Both teams received sinbins, Corduff 2 and Aughnamullen 1. Even though Corduff were reduced to 14 players for 20 minutes of the game they played brilliant football in what became a very one sided encounter. Aughnamullen kept the pressure on Corduff but Corduff's accuracy in front of the posts with 8 players on the score sheet and a defence which was scooping up everything  meant it was impossible for Aughnamullen to make an impact on the scoreboard. Corduff's dominance continued and resulted in a stylish finish on a scoreline of 4-12 to 0-05. Corduff advance to the Intermediate Championship semi-final against O'Neills and have certainly made the best possible start to what will hopefully be another exciting season for the black and amber ladies. Congratulations to the team and management..
