Andy McEntee is confident Meath can hold their own in Division One of the 2020 national football league.

The Royal County take their place in the top flight for the first time since 2006 and will open their Spring campaign with tricky games against Ulster counties Tyrone and Donegal on Saturday, January 25th and Sunday, February 2nd respectively. Their manager believes they can rise to the challenge:

“We played Tyrone in the championship in 2018, went down by a point after extra time. Have we improved since then? I think we probably have. Have they improved? I think they probably have, too, so I suppose on paper there shouldn’t be an awful lot in it,” McEntee notes in The Irish Mirror.

“Donegal then up next, we were there or thereabouts a couple of times with them in 2019. Look, there’s no doubt we have to perform and we have to perform to our utmost if we’re going to compete with teams like that.”
