Cortown rally behind Declan Coyne

November 12, 2018

Cortown's Declan Coyne

Cortown GFC are running a number of fundraising initiatives for the month of November for our midfielder Declan Coyne.

Unfortunately, ‘Hightower’ as he is also known has ran into some ill-health and as a result, the players have decided to take part in Movember for the month of November.

In addition to this, the players will cycle from Cortown to Croke Park and back this coming Sunday, November 18th. The players will depart from the clubhouse at 8.00am and embark on the journey arriving in Croker at approximately 11.00am. The players will then grab a bite to eat before meeting Uachrarán John Horan. The trip will culminate with a 2-hour tour of the iconic stadium before the players head for home.

Before the players shave all their hideous beards and mustaches on Saturday, December 1st there will be a charity match between Cortown and a North Meath selection in Cortown that evening. Final arrangements and throw-in time will be confirmed in the coming weeks but we would encourage everyone to come along both to the game and on the night.

It promises to be a great night of entertainment in Muldoon’s in Kells on the 1st December. Popular Turkish barber, Aydin will be on hand to shave all the tashes and perhaps the odd head! There will then be an auction with some tremendous prizes up for grabs which we will reveal soon! The Leavy family will provide live music on the evening with refreshments and plenty of fat frogs to be drank!

This is a very worthwhile cause for a true gentleman who is going through a difficult time. We have no doubt though that the gentle giant will be back on the playing field lining out for Cortown in 2019. For anyone wishing to donate or provide an item for the auction on the night contact:
