Ratoath 2-16 Dunderry 3-9

Ratoath booked their place in the Junior C final with a well-deserved win over a competitive Dunderry team in this semi-final fixture played in Drumree.

Ratoath took the lead in the first minute with a pointed free from Eoin McMahon following an incisive break by Padraic Byrne. Dunderry responded with a point of their own in the 3rd minute to level things.

Ratoath took advantage of a strong wind at their backs through the first half and put on a really composed team performance. Leading 6 points to 2 after 16 minutes, Dunderry threw the cat amongst the pigeons with a well taken goal to draw back to within a point. Ratoath replied with a superb individual goal from Nathan Dunne.

Ratoath tagged on a few more points before half time and went in leading 1-12 to 1-2.

Ratoath scored the first point of the second half but it was Dunderry who were to have the better of things in the second half. With a big full forward line who proved a handful they used the wind to their advantage going long at every opportunity. A goal 12 minutes into the second half closed the gap to 5 points. Andrew Gerrard popped up to score a vital goal for Ratoath on the 16th minute mark to widen the gap.

Points were exchanged before another long ball into the Dunderry full forward line led to their third goal. Ratoath stuck to their task and responded with a point to leave the gap at 5 before Dunderry finished the scoring with a last kick point.

Ratoath had 10 different scorers during the game and this was a fine team performance
