The row that has erupted between Mayo GAA and the county’s International Supporters Foundation will be on the agenda at tonight’s County Board meeting in Castlebar.

Mayo County Board are expected to issue a detailed response to issues raised by the foundation and its chairman Tim O’Leary in the past month.

Following the September meeting of Mayo GAA, County Board spokesman Paul Cunnane explained that they didn’t get time to respond to an email from the foundation in which it stated it was withholding €250,000 of money it had raised due to “serious deficits in financial governance at board level”.

The money was raised at a gala dinner in New York last May.

“There were a lot of serious allegations and accusations made,” Cunnane stated in relation to the email.

“We will issue a comprehensive response at our next meeting in the middle of October.”

Meanwhile, The Irish Independent is reporting that Mayo GAA has apologised to Mr O’Leary over the choice of songs that were played as part of the half-time entertainment in their game against the Underdogs at MacHale Park on Saturday evening.

Songs that were played included ‘Money, Money, Money’ and ‘Shoe the Donkey’.

It was described as “light-hearted take on recent events” in the letter of apology after a county board officer referred to the businessman as a “donkey” in an earlier email.

It is understood that Mr O’Leary has accepted the apology.
