A Mayo JFC quarter-final which was due to take place on Sunday has been postponed after an objection to the result of another game was lodged.
The Mayo News is reporting that the clash between Kilmaine and Westport's second team won't now go ahead this weekend after Achill objected to the result of their final group game against Knockmore's second team last weekend. The objection is based on alleged error in relation to the application of the black card rule.
Achill, who lost the game by 2-12 to 5-8, contend that Knockmore defender Paddy Hennigan should not have been replaced by Sean Holmes after receiving a black card in the closing stages as he had already been issued with a yellow card. Achill were leading by two points at the time, but conceded a late 2-1 to lose by five.
A win for the Islanders would have qualified them for the quarter-finals, but instead defeat saw them finish bottom of their group and facing a relegation playoff.
