Sheelan Cup: Goals prove undoing for Rovers

Two first half goals from Ardee’s Kian Moran proved decisive in this paddy Sheelan cup clash held in very windy conditions in Hunterstown on Friday evening. Moran’s first goal came from the penalty spot after he was fouled, his next strike came from a wind aided shot that looped over the head of Rovers keeper Marc Ward.

Ardee continued to dominate the first period and lead 2-07 to 0-02 at half time, with Brendan Lennon and a Tony McKenna free the only scores for Rovers in the first period.

Hunterstown were much improved in the 2 nd half aided with the wind, with some great points from Paul Carrie Alan Landy, Glen Mathews popped over points for Rovers and Jason Monaghan had a shot hit the crossbar to go over for a point. But it was the Marys who hung on for the win to get their 2020 season off to a winning start.
