Westmeath manager Jack Cooney admits there is a lot at stake in their clash against Louth on Saturday week.

Having put back to back wins together, Westmeath are firmly in the promotion hunt and indeed, currently are second place in the FL3 table, one point behind leaders Down.

There is still a lot to play for in the division and Louth are just a point behind Westmeath in third place.

Cooney acknowledged the fact that it is a must win game against the Wee County at Drogheda on March 16th.

“There is a lot at stake in our next encounter,” stated Cooney. “Both teams have everything to play for.

“I said at the outset that our promotion aspirations will come down to the last game and I don’t think any different now. I was delighted with the way the squad responded after the Down match.

“I feel it is very much in our own hands and with two games remaining, we’re looking forward to preparing for the Louth game.”
