Sheelan Cup: Here we go again; the 2019 season begins next Saturday night with an away game against the Clans. Best of luck to all our players, selectors and manager for the year ahead, O’Connells Abú.

Best Wishes: The club would like to wish a speedy recovery to one of our honorary presidents, Jimmy Kierans who is unwell at the moment. Get well soon Jimmy for all at O’Connells GFC.

Bingo: Bingo will continue in our clubrooms this Wednesday 13th February at 8.00pm, jackpot €2,000 in 48 numbers.

Social Dancing: There will be social dancing on Saturday 16th February in our clubrooms from 9.00pm, music by Declan Aungier, admission €10 and refreshments will be served.

TG4: A new seven part series started last Thursday night at 8pm on TG4 that gives a unique insight into the families and communities involved in four very different GAA clubs.  Ár gClub joins the communities and families of An Ghaeltacht (Kerry), Na Piarsaigh (Galway), Na Dúnaibh (Donegal) and Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin) for the joys and heartbreaks involved in supporting their home club. With 2,500 clubs across the country, the GAA is the biggest and perhaps the most important sports institution in Ireland. Ár gClub will tell the stories of four very different GAA clubs as they compete, battle for honours, and strive to survive the 2018 season. This program is repeated on Monday night at 7.30pm and is available on the TG4 player.

Scholarships: Applications for the DKIT GAA scholarships are now open in both men’s and ladies football. In addition to receiving substantial funding towards studies, scholars receive extensive sport welfare support, including an intensive strength and conditioning programme, sports science training, fitness testing, nutrition advice, sports psychology and physiotherapy. Students also receive open access to the Institute's new state-of-the-art indoor sports facility, DkIT Sport. Application forms can be downloaded from DkIT.ie with a May 1st deadline.
