ST KEVINS 3-11

GLEN EMMETS 0-8

St Kevins booked their place in Division 2 football after recording a comfortable win over a Glen Emmets side who will ply their trade in Division 3 as a result.

The promotion/relegation play-off at Newfoundwell on Friday night saw the Kevins on top for much of the hour and in the end they ran out deserving winners by 12 points.

The winners set the tone from the opening exchanges and they were off the mark through Darren McMullen and Patrick Clarke before Clarke pounced to claim the first goal of the game.

Ronan Grufferty, Jamie Farnan and Andrew Mooney led the fight for the Emmets as they found the target while at the other end Adam Khan pointed to keep his side in front. However, in the three minutes before the break the Kevins made the decisive move as Cian Callan found the net before Clarke landed two points to send his side in with a healthy 2-5 to 0-4 lead.

The Tullyallen side battled well after the restart to get back into the game but their hopes of staying in Division 2 were all but over after 36 minutes when Seanie Crosbie found the net for the third time.

Substitute Aidan Craven came on and added two points for the Kevins as they cruised home despite the Emmets scoring late points through Grufferty, James Butler and Keith Lynch.
