Three sides march into Leinster club IFC semis

Mullinavat struck a blow for Kilkenny football when they held on for a 3-11 to 2-11 victory over Ballyboughal in a thrilling Leinster club IFC quarter-final at Thomastown.

The Kilkenny senior champions looked to be home and hosed when they led by 3-7 to 0-3 at the break, but the Dublin representatives staged a second half comeback which left only one score in it at the final whistle.

Laois' Rosenallis will provide the semi-final opposition for 'Vat after seeing off Fr Manning Gaels of Longford by 2-9 to 1-6 in Killoe.

The Gaels scored 1-1 in the opening 10 minutes through Dean Farrelly, but Rosenallis fought back with goals from Ronan Murray (penalty) and Cillian Callally to lead by 2-4 to 1-2 at the break. With the wind behind them in the second half, the Longford men cut the gap with points from Martin Cassidy and Aaron Quinn, but they missed a host of chances and the visitors were able to close out the game with points from Murray, Callally and Mark Dunne.

Building on their impressive first round victory over Westmeath's Caulry, Dunlavin recorded another win over Meath kingpins Nobber in Baltinglass.

The Wicklow champions came from four points down to go into the break on level terms, 0-7 each, before taking control in the second half when Cian O'Sullivan's goal sealed a 2-15 to 1-12 victory.

The other quarter-final between Mattock Rangers (Louth) and Monasterevan (Kildare) was postponed, but has been refixed for Stabannon Parnells tomorrow at 2pm, with Darver on standby.
