U20 Championship: Dromard 3-11 Ballymahon/Southern Gaels 1-11. Congratulations to our U20 footballers who recorded an excellent win over Ballymahon/Southern Gaels on Sunday last at Páirc Chiarán, Newtowncashel. In an entertaining and open game, Dromard’s young team showed great workrate in every position and played some fine attacking football. Dromard led by 2-3 to 0-5 at half time. Both Dromard goals were scored by Aaron Farrell with the hard working Martin McStay and Conor McGauran involved in the build ups. Points from Joseph Hagan (from play and a free) and Luke McEntire (free) extended Dromard’s lead to five points with ten minutes played in the second half. Dromard then suffered a setback with a goal from Ballymahon/Southern Gaels reducing Dromard’s lead to just two points (2-7 to 1-8), leaving the game in the balance. However, Dromard responded in fine fashion with a well-worked move down the centre of the pitch from Ollie Duffy’s kickout creating some confusion in the Ballymahon /Southern Gaels goalmouth. The alert Luke McEntire reacted quickest to finish a loose ball to the net for a goal which assured victory for Dromard, Joseph Hagan, Fionn Hourican and Luke McEntire added late points to seal a deserved win. Well done to the players on an excellent performance and to James Martin, Danny O’Toole, Paul Hourican and the rest of the management team. Team versus Ballymahon/Southern Gaels: Ollie Duffy, Martin McStay, Ciaran Murphy, Conor McGauran, Dylan McCormack, Jason Grimes, Darragh O’Toole, Luke McEntire, Ronan Bleakley, Fionn Hourican, Joseph Hagan, Aaron Farrell, Joshua Gray.
