Dromard club notes

Minor Champions: Congratulations to the St Francis Dromard team on winning the 11-a-side Cup in the curtain raiser to the senior final in Pearse Park on Sunday. The players put in a magnificent performance in coming from behind to defeat a very committed Clonbroney side. Well done to all the players on the panel, their management team of Paul Hourican, Thomas O’Neill and Peter Reynolds and the backroom team of Danny O’Toole, Naomi Martin and Thomas Donohoe. 

Mass: Thank you to our Parish Priest Fr Pat Lennon for celebrating Mass in Legga on Sunday last in memory of past and present members of Dromard GAA club. 

County Final: Congratulations to Emmet Óg Killoe on their victory in the county final on Sunday. Well done to the players and management and everyone involved in the Club. Commiserations to a young Longford Slashers side on a narrow defeat. 

Dromard Healthy Club: As part of our new Autumn Fitness and Wellness schedule, a circuits class with Paul Mulligan returns on Saturday mornings from 8.30am in the Clubhouse. This is an excellent class suitable for any fitness level. New spinning classes have also commenced on Tuesdays with Edel Murray Fitness from 7pm-7.45pm and from 8pm to 8.45pm. 

Longford GAA Gaelic Football Award 1 Coaching Course: Award 1 Youth/Adult (November): This course is aimed at coaches of teams from Adult to U13 and coaches wishing to attend must hold the Foundation Award for at least the last playing season (spring 2019). This course will be ran over 3 Saturdays (10 – 3:30) and 2 Thursday nights (7 - 9:30) in November and all sessions must be attended in order to complete the course and receive your Award. Lunch will be provided on the Saturdays. Places are available on a first come first served bases (provided the above Foundation requirement is met) and limited to 24 in total. Please let Tommy O’Neill or John Duffy know if you are available.

National Student Bursary: The GAA has announced details of the 2019/2020 GAA National Student Bursary. The scheme is open to members of the Association who are attending a full-time Higher Education course (except those who hold another GAA-related or college scholarship/bursary) and who are active participants in their Higher Education club. Applications for the scheme will be considered by a sub-committee in each province; each bursary granted will be for €750. Please see the GAA website for more details.
