Mullinalaghta will meet Abbeylara in the Longford SFC final for the third year in a row after beating Clonguish this evening.

In a game which saw new Cavan manager Mickey Graham pitted against his former Breffni County team-mate Dermot McCabe, champions Mullinalaghta kicked the last five points to run out 0-12 to 1-6 winners at Pearse Park.

Having trailed by 0-7 to 0-3 at the break, the McCabe coached Clonguish burst into life to score 1-3 inside ten minutes of the resumption with their goal coming from Conor Shields.

But that Shields major proved to be the last score for the Newtownforbes side as points from Jayson Matthews and Shane Mulligan helped Mullinalaghta regain the lead before two further efforts saw them see out the contest.

Mullinalaghta are just 60 minutes away from completing a three-in-a-row of Connolly Cups.

The decider will take place on October 7.
