So we are pomping for Monaghan and Galway to come through today's games.

If Galway produce a performance which they are capable of producing then they should retain their title.

It was as if they were just going through the motions, whether that was down to Kilkenny's workrate or not remains to be seen.

In saying that, it was a lacklustre performance by Galway and many of their players didn't perform.

Write them off at your peril, the Cats just keep coming back.

Kilkenny surprised many last week as they produced a performance that was worthy of winning the game.

However, both sides will be very familiar with the venue and that will have no bearing on the game.

This time in the unusual surroundings of Semple Stadium. Unusual in the fact that it is a Leinster final being played in Munster.

In the hurling, Galway and Kilkenny must do it all again.

Monaghan have been surprised once this year, by Fermanagh, and it is hard to see them falling to a lower ranked side a second time.

If Laois can reproduce their opening 20 minutes performance against Dublin for the full 70 minutes here, then they have a great chance.

They face yet another Division Four side (albeit Division Three next year), but Laois will certainly provide them with a stern test this afternoon.

They have had a comfortable run to this stage, beating Waterford and Leitrim along the way.

The bookies say Monaghan and it is hard to argue against that.

Who will join Roscommon, Tyrone and Kildare in getting to the Super 8s through the qualifiers?
