Dan Morrissey has made no secret of his desire to complete the full set of All-Ireland, Allianz League and Munster hurling medals.

A provincial medal is all that's missing after he helped Limerick to All-Ireland and Allianz League titles in the last nine months.

"When you are playing senior inter-county, a National League, Munster, and All-Ireland are the three medals you want to win," the Ahane clubman told the Irish Independent ahead of the Treaty County's Munster SHC opener against Cork at the Gaelic Grounds on Sunday.

"Thankfully, we've won two of them over the last nine months. The Munster championship is the next big one we want to win. We're looking forward to the next couple of weeks. Games are what players want.

"To be guaranteed four Munster championship games, by comparison with previous years where if you won or lost your first game, you might not have another for four or five weeks, it is great the way the structure is now."

Morrissey added: "I just missed out on a Munster medal in 2013. There is only a handful left from that 2013 squad. The vast majority of the squad don't have a Munster medal. It is obviously something players will want to win.

"Inter-county careers are so short at the minute that you want to win as much as you can while you are playing and you can look back on the medals you won then once you retire."
