It’s officially summer once the hurling championship gets underway…
 

1. Donal Tuohy (Clare)

The Banner County’s netminder kept a clean sheet as they claimed the Munster SHC points at the expense of Waterford in Walsh Park.

2. Eoghan O’Donnell (Dublin)

The Dublin defender gave as good as he got against the Cats and can consider himself unfortunate to have ended up on the losing side.#

3. David McInerney (Clare)

McInerney and his full-back line colleagues had their hands full with the Bennett brothers but can be pleased with their contribution to Clare’s one-point victory. 

4. Tommy Walsh (Kilkenny)

Serious questions were asked of Kilkenny by Dublin and Walsh & Co came up with the right answers.

5. Huw Lawlor (Kilkenny)

Lawlor was asked to curb Liam Rushe’s influence in the second-half and he didn’t let his side down.

6. Ronan Maher (Tipperary)

Maher and the Premier County issued a statement of intent with a thoroughly deserved 2-28 to 1-24 win over arch rivals Cork.

7. Padraic Maher (Tipperary)

Like his younger brother, Padraic produced a reliable display against the Rebel County. 

8. Cathal Mannion (Galway)

The Galway midfielder continued where he left off in the league with a personal return of three points against Carlow.

9. Tony Kelly (Clare)

The industrious Kelly was the driving force behind the Banner County’s Walsh Park win and contributed 0-5 to his county’s cause.

10. TJ Reid (Kilkenny)

Reid punished Dublin’s indiscipline with unerring accuracy and finished with a total of 2-12 to his name.

11. Seamus Callanan (Tipperary)

The Tipperary captain led by example with 1-4 against Cork.

12. Patrick Horgan (Cork)

No finger of blame for John Meyler’s side’s defeat can be pointed in the direction of the Glen Rovers ace who scored 0-14. 

13. John O’Dwyer (Tipperary)

The Cork defence couldn’t contain ‘Bubbles’ who scored seven points and set up John McGrath for his goal.

14. Conor Cooney (Galway)

The Tribesmen’s full-forward was in fine form against the Barrowsiders and chipped in with 1-3 in their six-point victory.

15. Marty Kavanagh (Carlow)

Kavanagh caught the eye at the opposite end of the field when raising 11 white flags (five from play) against Micheal Donoghue’s side.
