Rathnew club notes

Rathnew Gaa 1885 is the clubs one and only official Facebook page. Any other page with our name has nothing to do with our club is not run by anyone in our club.

 

With the season started for all teams any club gear can be bought on the Rathnew shop on the O'Neill's website or just follow the link on our Facebook page. 

 

There was no winner of the lotto jackpot on the 7th may. Numbers 20, 23, 24, 26. We no match 3. At the time of writing the jackpot stands at €10,700. Get your tickets from Doyle's, The Arches, The Village Inn, Rockies, Healy's Mini Market, View hair & beauty, Malone's, Dowling's Butchers and Centra every Friday and Saturday evening from 5.30pm. Thanks to everyone who supports our lotto. 

 

Membership is now well over due. It is vital that all adult and juveniles pay their membership or they are not covered if injured. If no effort is made to pay then they will be unable to train or play. Contact the team coaches for membership details.

 

The 2019 Kellogg's cul camp dates have been released. Rathnew will be hosting it the week starting the 12th of August. It's always a brilliant week for the kids so book early on kelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie or follow the link on our Facebook page.

 

The nursery is on every Saturday morning at 11.15. It's for all kids aged 3 upwards and is always great fun. Contact James Stafford 0833193238 for more details.

 

The annual Kevin Gill golf classic is on in Wicklow golf club on Saturday the 18th May. It's a two person team €40 per person with BBQ on the 10th which is kindly sponsored by Healy's Mini Market. Contact Peter Dignam 0879882648 or Clifford Murphy 0868877794 for tee times from 12.10pm onwards. Prize giving will take place in Doyle's later that night. 

 

A brilliant week on the playing field for the club starting off with the senior team beating Tinahely on Wednesday evening 0-13 to 0-08 with Dylan Smith top scoring with 0-5. Thursday brought 3 wins out of 3 with the under 16 girls beating neighbours St. Pats 8-6 to 3-6 in a brilliant match which was also matched by the under 15 team who with only 15 players beat hot favourites St. Nicks 5-11 to 4-11 with the winning goal coming from the last kick of the game. The junior B beat Kilcoole 3-15 to 0-6 to make it their 4th win from 4 in the league. Then on Friday evening the intermediate team also beat Kilcoole 1-10 to 0-12 to keep their impressive league campaign going. Not to be out done the ladies team got in on the winning ways beating Carnew on Saturday evening 3-5 to 0-12 for their second league win of the campaign. 

Hard luck to Jamie, Ross, Theo and the rest of the county senior football team losing out to Kildare in the first round of the Leinster championship on Saturday. A brilliant win for the county hurlers away to Donegal on Sunday in the Christy Ring cup with the two Gary's to the fore with Hughes helping himself to a hat-trick of goals and Byrne getting man of the match. 

The junior B team have a bye this week while the seniors are home to AGB on Friday evening at 7.30 and the intermediate team are away to An Tochar on Saturday ttbc. The minors are away to Blessington on Friday and home to Baltinglass on Monday both at 7.15. The under 13 ream are home to Aughrim on Monday at 7.15.
