Galbally club notes

April 23, 2019

The Galbally GAA Golf Classic takes place on Friday 3rd May at Ballykisteen Golf Course. A number of the tee-off time slots have been taken but there is still some morning availability. Contact any club officer for further details.

The Con and Annie Kirby Final took place Saturday night with the Galbally Camogie nominated dog ‘Toolmaker Jose’ winning the competition at Limerick Greyhound Stadium. This resulted in a cheque for €10,000 being made out to Galbally Camogie by JP and Noreen McManus. It is the third cheque received in Galbally from the McManus family arising out of the Con and Annie Kirby Stake. In 2014 Boylesports Hero won the Final winning €10,000 and in 2015 Ivy Hill Bart reached the final winning €1000 for Galbally GAA. The McManus Family have now kindly funded a total of €21,000 between the GAA and Camogie, so all are extremely appreciative and gracious towards them for their generosity.

The Limerick Minor Footballers face Tipperary in the Munster Championship at Sean Treacy Park Tipperary Town on this Wednesday 24th April. Please make every effort to support the sizeable Galbally contingent on the night.

The latest Split the Pot winner was Gerry O’Halloran Corderry who was the lucky winner of €334. Indeed he was lucky on the double as it was his second time winning the pot since it commenced in December and his brother William won the pot last week. Next Draw in the Foxes Den, Knockcarron on Saturday night next 27thApril. We would sincerely like to thank all the local people for supporting this venture.

Outside the County, Darragh Ryan has been named as captain of the Kildare Under 20 football team as they bid to retain their All Ireland title. He is a nephew of 1990 Intermediate Captain Paul Ryan. Galbally GAA Sponsor Johnny Cummins managed the Cahir Senior Footballers to beat Aherlow by a single point at Bansha last weekend in the Tipperary Championship.
