Limerick forward Gearoid Hegarty has revealed that he would love to get his hands on a NHL medal.

Hegarty has had a taste for success at national level, winning the All-Ireland title last year and his hunger for more has not waned.

Limerick are through to the NHL semi-finals having defeated Laois last weekend, while the three remaining quarterfinals take place tomorrow.

The Shannonsiders face the winners of Tipperary and Dublin in the last four with Hegarty already looking ahead to winning the competition.

“We were down this road last year and hopefully we can win the league,” Hegarty told the Limerick Leader.

“I heard a stat that Limerick haven’t won the league in 22 years. I didn’t realise it was so long since Limerick won the league.”
