Senior Football Training & Challenge Match

Training continues this Wednesday at Ardagh Astro pitch & Saturday at the pitch.

Last Thursday, we faced Na Piarsaigh in a challenge match in Caherdavin. Despite missing a number of regulars, this was a well needed work out as the lads took what was being done in training out into practice on the pitch. This was a real game of two halves, with some very good football played by both teams with Na Piarsaigh emerging victorious in the end by a few points. Another highlight being the senior debuts of Callum Daly and Luke Gammell. Thanks to Na Piarsaigh for facilitating us on the night with the game taking place under the lights of their new pitch which was in immaculate condition for this time of year.

Team vs Na Piarsaigh – Conor Ranahan; Jason Daly, Kevin McMahon, Rob Whelan; Roger Somers, Pa Ranahan, Callum Daly; Shane Gallagher, Cian O’Connell; Shane Hallinan, Jack Neville, Sean Whelan; Maurice Somers, Danny Neville, David Holland. Subs: Brian Neville, Luke Gammell, Paul Doyle.

Do It for Diarmuid

Recently, former player and friend Diarmuid Barron was diagnosed with cancer upon returning home from New Zealand. This news has shocked everyone associated with the club, but we are determined to support Diarmuid and his partner Jenna through this time. We are looking to organise our own event but in the meantime a number of fundraisers are organised to help with everyday costs.

In New Zealand, the Saint Patrick’s Emerald City GAA club, where Diarmuid played in goals for their Senior Footballers last year, have started an online fundraiser which can be found here https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/do-it-for-diarmuid

A Weekend for Diarmuid will take place over March 8th to 10th with a number of fundraising events to take place. All money raised over the weekend will go directly to Diarmuid. For more information you can follow the Facebook page: DoitforDiarmuid

We will publish details of our event when it is finalised on our Facebook and Twitter accounts.
