Galbally club notes

February 18, 2019

The AGM of Galbally GAA took place on Saturday night last. All officers have returned for 2019, but there is a vacancy for a Secretary after Ger Cussen stepped down after many years sterling service in a number of positions, but most recently a six year spell in the position in seven years. Expressions of interest in the position should be made to Tom Quinlan Chairman. It has been agreed to run a Golf Classic in the coming months, further information to follow.

The 2017 South Senior Football Final was finally played in Glenroe GAA Field on Saturday last after a long two year protracted and extended saga of fixture and re-fixture. Ballylanders were the winners on a scoreline of 1-8 to 0-8 with Danny Frewen scoring the key goal, and the reduction of Galbally to 13 men extinguished any possibility of a comeback late in the game. We would like to wish Eoin O’Mahony the best wishes following his injury.

The team was Ger Ryan, Michael O’Dwyer, Roibeard Donovan, Dave Cussen, Mark Quinlan, Cathal Shanahan, Nathan O’Byrne, James Ryan, Colin Ryan, Jamie Morrissey, James Cummins, Jacko Mullane, Mike Donovan (0-1), Kieran Hickey (0-3), Gary McCarthy (0-4). Subs: Eoin O’Mahony for Jacko Mullane, Dylan O’Shea for Gary McCarthy, Jonathan Scully for Eoin O’Mahony. Video clips of the scores from this game are available on the Galbally GAA Twitter Page.

The latest Split the Pot Winner was Brendan O’Donnell who won €462. Next Draw Saturday 23rd February at the Foxes Den, Knockcarron.
