The inclement weather wreaked havoc with the hurling fixture schedule with only Clare versus Limerick going ahead in Division 1A. Here are the players that made our team of the week…
1. Donal Tuohy (Clare)
The Clare custodian pulled off a fantastic penalty save to deny Aaron Gillane in the Cusack Park stalemate.
2. Paddy Rigney (Offaly)
Rigney and Offaly secured a much-needed win against Carlow in Division 1B and will be looking to repeat the trick in next weekend’s relegation play-off.
3. Richie English (Limerick)
English and his team-mates played out an entertaining draw with the Banner County.
4. Paud Costello (Kerry)
The Kingdom proved too strong for visitors Meath and now turn their attention to next Sunday’s Allianz HL Division 2A decider with Westmeath.
5. Paddy O’Loughlin (Limerick)
The impressive O’Loughlin got through a lot of good defensive work and also made the scoresheet for the All-Ireland champions.
6. Sean Moran (Dublin)
The Sky Blues’ centre-back sent over two placed balls in the two-point victory over Laois.
7. Conor Cleary (Clare)
Cleary was his usual reliable self in defence for the Donal Moloney/Gerry O’Connor managed outfit.
8. Shane Golden (Clare)
The standout midfielder, Golden roamed forward to pick-pocket Limerick to the tune of 1-1.
9. Rian McBride (Dublin)
McBride and his Dublin team-mates had to dig deep to see off the gutsy challenge of the O’Moore County in Parnell Park.
10. Joe Bergin (Offaly)
Bergin took the scoring honours for the Faithful County with 2-3 at Netwatch Cullen Park.
11. Danny Sutcliffe (Dublin)
The former All-Star raised three white flags in total and his late brace was the difference between the teams at the final whistle.
12. Shane Conway (Kerry)
Conway registered eight points in the commanding 16-point success over Meath in Killarney.
13. Peter Casey (Limerick)
Casey contributed three points to his team’s final tally of 1-14 in Ennis.
14. Liam Rushe (Dublin)
The experienced Rushe came in for special praise from his manager Mattie Kenny following their clash with Laois.
15. Derek McNicholas (Westmeath)
Westmeath finetuned their preparations for next weekend’s final against Kerry with a comprehensive win over Mayo.
