Former Kerry All-Ireland winner Mike Quirke is set to take over the reins as Laois senior football manager.

The Irish Examiner reports this afternoon that Quirke will have his name put forward for ratification next Monday night at the Laois county board’s executive meeting.

Quirke, who won four All-Ireland titles during his playing career with the Kingdom, has previously managed his home club Kerins O’Rahillys and is currently employed as a full-time coaching officer with Munster GAA.

He is set to succeed fellow Kerry man John Sugrue in the O’Moore County following the latter’s decision to resign his post in late July after two seasons at the helm.
