HL1B: Deise power past Laois

Waterford came away from O’Moore Park today with a comfortable 16-point Allianz HL Division 1B success over Laois under their belts.

The scoreboard read Waterford 4-22, Laois 1-15 at the final whistle.

A brace of goals from Patrick Curran and Thomas Ryan and 0-12 from Stephen Bennett were the highlights of a commanding performance by Paraic Fanning’s side.

The game was effectively over as a contest at the halfway stage with the Deise ahead by 2-12 to 0-5.

Eddie Brennan’s Laois were forced to play most of the second-half with 14-men after substitute Lee Cleere was issued with his marching orders following an off-the-ball incident while Mark Kavanagh netted a late consolation goal for the home side.
