The Tipperary players celebrate their victory over Cavan at Parnell Park

There was a controversial ending to this afternoon's Lidl Ladies Football National League Division 2 final between Tipperary and Cavan at Parnell Park.

With Tipp hanging onto a 0-21 to 3-11 lead with barely 20 seconds to go, referee Stephen McNulty awarded Cavan a penalty after Bronagh Sheridan had the ball pulled from her grasp by an opponent. But after consulting with his umpires, the Wicklow match official changed his mind and instead threw up the ball, much to the ire of the Breffni County who ended up losing their second Division 2 final in-a-row.
