Trophies breed confidence

Acting Kilkenny captain Eoin Murphy believes that winning any trophy breeds confidence into a team.

Murphy picked up the Player’s Champions Cup in the Big Apple last weekend when they defeated Limerick in the ‘Super 11s’ Hurling Classic final at Citi Field.

The competition has received its fair share of criticism and there is no doubt that it is not high on the list of priorities for the competing counties when it comes to winning silverware.

However, Murphy feels regardless of what the competition is, it is great to lift any trophy.

“It’s nice to finish up with a trophy. Any sort of trophy can breed success,” Murphy told the Kilkenny People.

“The more trophies you win it seems to have a positive effect and gives you confidence going into the following year.

“Maybe, we can kick on from here. The new season is not too far off and we leave this one on a high.”
