Dublin’s conquerors Laois have no less than nine representatives on our team of the week…

1. Enda Rowland (Laois)

Two top class saves and two crucial late frees added up to a ‘man-of-the-match’ performance by the Laois custodian.

2. Stephen McDonnell (Cork) 

The Rebels warmed up for an All-Ireland quarter-final date with a facile victory over Westmeath.

3. Paddy Smyth (Dublin)

There will be a lot of soul searching in the Dublin dressing room but Smyth was one of their better performers at O’Moore Park.

4. Joe Phelan (Laois)

Phelan and his team-mates bridged a 40-year gap by qualifying for the All-Ireland SHC quarter-final stage. 

5. Jack Kelly (Laois)

It’s Tipperary next up for Kelly and the O’Moore County.

6. Ryan Mullaney (Laois)

The centre-back has been one of his team’s most consistent performers this season.

7. Niall O’Leary (Cork)

O’Leary and his team-mates showed no mercy to Joe Quaid’s Joe McDonagh Cup runners-up.

8. John Lennon (Laois)

Lennon and Laois are in bonus territory as they prepare to lock horns with Tipperary at Croke Park on Sunday.

9. Paddy Purcell (Laois)

Purcell underlined his reputation as one of the top midfielders in the game. 

10. Aaron Dunphy (Laois)

Dunphy netted the game’s only goal and also chipped in with two points for good measure.

11. Conor Lehane (Cork)

Lehane raised four white flags in his team’s 1-40 to 0-20 win in Mullingar.

 
12. Mark Kavanagh (Laois)

It was a day that will live long in the memory of O’Moore County hurling supporters and Kavanagh topped the scoring chart with 0-9.

13. Willie Dunphy (Laois)

Set up his namesake for the 9th minute goal and also chipped in with four points.

14. Alan Cadogan (Cork)

Along with Seamus Harnedy and Shane Kingston, Cadogan posted five points against the Lake County.

15. Patrick Horgan (Cork)

‘Hoggie’ took the scoring honours with a return of 0-10 (five from play).
