Kiely: we've been improving from game to game

Limerick boss John Kiely during his side's win over Kilkenny at Nowlan Park

Limerick’s work-rate and use of possession were key ingredients in their winning formula against Kilkenny today, according to John Kiely.

The Treaty County came away from Nowlan Park with a nine-point success and, speaking to Off The Ball, the winning manager reflected: “Happy with the performance, the lads worked hard.

“Conditions were difficult there in the second-half, the breeze was very, very strong. I think we used the ball well in that phase of the game, at the start of the second-half in particular.

“With 30 minutes gone there was nothing in it then all of a sudden two quick goals and a couple of points and we had a nice little gap at the break.

“We were lucky to have it because without those couple of scores just before half-time it was going to be very tight.”

With three wins from as many outings under their belt, the All-Ireland champions are currently in pole position in the Division 1A table.

“Over the last month we have been gradually improving in small measures from game to game.

“Today we were delighted just to see some of the stuff we’ve been working on in training produced on the pitch. That’s all credit to the boys.”
