Good news for Dunnamaggin, bad news for their Leinster club JHC final opponents Na Fianna as nine-time All-Ireland SHC winner Noel Hickey is fit to take his place in the side.

Hickey has been sidelined for the last number of weeks with a hamstring injury sustained in the county semi final.

He missed the county final win over Piltown and then their subsequent games in the provincial campaign, but the experienced full back is in line to take his place at the edge of the square against the Meath intermediate champions.

Dunnamaggin manager Eamon Kennedy told the Kilkenny People that having such a legend in the side is a huge boost to them on Saturday.

“That is a huge boost for us,” said Kennedy. “Noel is a great leader, a great man for the team. He still has it. He looks after himself very well. He is still as fit as he was five or six years ago. Knowing he will play is a huge boost.

“You could see the young lads looking at him. They look up to him. He is a great leader, a great clubman, just like he was a great inter-county man.”
