The camogie finals took centre stage at GAA HQ yesterday and Cork were celebrating on the double. Here is our camogie team of the week...
1. Aoife Murray (Cork)
The Cloughduv player picked up her ninth All-Ireland medal and enjoyed the added bonus of getting to lift the O’Duffy Cup.
2. Collette Dormer (Kilkenny)
Dormer and her defensive colleagues, limited the team in red and white to five scores from play.
3. Catherine Foley (Kilkenny)
Like Dormer, Foley produced a resolute display but, ultimately, their best efforts just came up short.
4. Pamela Mackey (Cork)
Handed the task of curbing Katie Power’s influence, the defender didn’t let her side down.
5. Gemma O’Connor (Cork)
The game was very much in the melting pot throughout and O’Connor wasn’t shy when it came to putting her shoulder to the wheel.
6. Anne Dalton (Kilkenny)
It was a second final defeat in-a-row for Dalton & Co and the disappointing manner of this loss will linger for a long time.
7. Chloe Sigerson (Cork)
The wing-back contributed three points from placed balls to her team’s winning tally of 0-14.
8. Meighan Farrell (Kilkenny)
The midfielder made the scoresheet with a point but her best efforts proved to be in vain.
9. Aisling Thompson (Cork)
The hard-working Thompson drove her team on at every available opportunity.
10. Denise Gaule (Kilkenny)
Ann Downey’s side relied heavily on Gaule’s free-taking and she finished with 0-10 to her name.
11. Orla Cronin (Cork)
The number 11 sent over two valuable points for the Paudie Murray coached outfit.
12. Orla Cotter (Cork)
Won and converted the controversial free that ultimately decided the final, Cotter found the target with five placed balls overall.
13. Saoirse McCarthy (Cork)
It was a case of third time lucky for the Cork intermediates and the minor star raised four white flags in their seven-point win over Down.
14. Aoife Bugler (Dublin)
Bugler’s 15th minute goal sent the Dubs on the road to a nine-point victory over Kerry in the premier junior final and she also contributed three points for good measure.
15. Caitriona Collins (Cork)
Down couldn’t cope with Collins who pick-pocketed them to the tune of 1-6 in the intermediate showdown.
