Sad news. Pity it wasn't know before the game to give him a good send off. Could of got his name on the board with the last free as well. Kildare still looked better when he came on to, I know it was over by then but he didn't look off the pace.
It's his choice, he doesn't owe kildare a thing. Can't be easy with a family and to continue to give that level of commitment.
If one man in Ireland deserved an all ireland medal it's him, not many no matter what county there from would disagree with that.
Legend of the game

Hard to put into words what Johnny brought to Kildare football over the last 14 years or so.
Evan harder to put into words how badly he'll be missed.

Thanks for everything Johnny. It has been an absolute honour to watch you.

Tremendous player with a huge appetite and engine for the game.. Always gave 100% for the Kildare cause and was known the length and breath of the country, owes Kildare nothing and always carried himself well both on and off the field. All the best to him in his retirement

A brilliant guy both on and off the pitch. Always ran himself into the ground for Kildare. His leadership, inspiration and huge talent will be sorely missed.
Thanks for all the tremendous commitment and determination over the years Johnny. Hard to measure but you have been a huge inspiration to all the youngsters playing the game as well.

Hope he stays involved with county at some level.

One of the truly great players of recent times who stayed loyal to his beloved county eventhough he would have got his place on any county team in the country !

Absolute Legend and gentlemen. One of the all time greats. He'll be a massive loss to Kildare football on and off the field I'd imagine.

I think he's the best Kildare footballer I have ever seen. He was unlucky to have had to drag a mediocre kildare team for the vast majority of his career. A lot of years there wouldn't have been any point going to Kildare games if Johnny wasn't playing. He's a credit to the county and I feel lucky to have seen him play. We will be telling our grand kids about Johnny.

Just completely gutted that Johnny has hung up the white jersey for the last time. We all knew it was coming but alas that day has finally come. Just to add to all the previous comments in wishing JD all the best and to thank him so much for the tireless shift he put in year on year for his county. As someone else said here before......if you cut Johnny Doyle he'd bleed white!!!! Nothing more to be said. Good luck John. A true gentleman and a Kildare Legend. Thank you.
