Second half goals from Cian Costigan and Shane Doyle secured the local bragging rights for Sarsfields in their Kildare SFC final replay with Moorefield at St Conleth's Park.

Having needed a late Barry Coffey point to earn a replay seven days ago, 'The Sash' made no mistake at the second attempt as they claimed a 25th title and denied their Newbridge rivals an historic three-in-a-row. The victory is another feather in the cap of young Sarsfields boss Davy Burke, who led Kildare to All-Ireland U20FC glory last year and was recently appointed Wicklow senior manager.

Ben McCormack settled the winners with two early points and they continued to set the pace with three more scores from Ray Cahill, Darragh Ryan and Conor Hartley. Eanna O'Connor opened Moorefield's account from a fourth-minute free and they enjoyed their most productive spell at the start of the second quarter when points from Eddie Heavey, O'Connor and Ciaran Kelly were followed by a Niall Hurley-Lynch goal.

Further scores from Kelly and Cian O’Connor helped the holders to a 1-7 to 0-8 interval lead.

Despite losing their captain Sean Campbell to injury, 'The Sash' reeled off 1-6 between the 42nd and 57th minutes to take the game by the scruff of the neck. Points from McCormack, Declan McKenna and Barry Coffey edged them ahead before Costigan netted with 10 minutes remaining.

Coffey and McCormack extended Sarsfields' lead to seven points before Moorefield were awarded two late penalties. Paddy O'Sullivan saved the first one from Tyrrell, but could nothing to keep out Eanna O'Connor's spot kick moments later. 

However, sub Shane Doyle settled it for once and for all with the winners' second major deep into injury-time.
