Kerry's James O'Connor with James Toher Meath during the NHL Division 2A clash at Lomans Park Trim

Kerry inflicted a second defeat of this year’s Allianz HL Division 2A competition on Meath at Trim today.

Kerry ....... 0-13

Meath ...... 0-8

Taking full advantage of the elements in the second-half Kerry maintained their 100% record. Having limited Meath to just five first-half points, the Kingdom outscored the home side by 0-8 to 0-3 thereafter consigning them to a second defeat.

The difficult conditions curtailed scoring on both sides, though the wind and rain lessened as the second-half wore on.

Five different players contributed to Kerry's tally while Padraig O'Hanrahan was the sole Meath player to post more than one score while they managed just one second-half score from play.

Kerry did the basics better than Meath who had a number of players who didn't perform to expectations.

The teams were tied just once in the second-half when Jack Regan countering a Shane Conway 65 in the 39th minute.

Kerry doubled their tally before Meath pointed again with O'Hanrahan landing a 59th minute free to make it 0-12 to 0-7.

The sides shared just two more scores in the time remaining that included over five minutes of added time. The game's most prolific scorer, Conway closed the scoring after another O'Hanrahan free closed the gap to four.

The difficult conditions yielded just 10 first-half scores with Meath having the backing of the wind when playing into the town goal in the opening 35 minutes.

Kerry looked set to saunter to their third win of the campaign when posting three points in the opening six minutes.

UCC Fitzgibbon Cup hero Shane Conway posted his second score in the 12th minute to leave the board nearby reading 0-4 to 0-0.

It took Meath nearly 17 minutes to get off the mark with scoring hero of their win over Wicklow , Padraig O'Hanrahan pointing from play.

Moments later Meath 'keeper Charlie Ennis stopped Padraig Boyle's goal bound effort. O'Hanrahan and Paddy Potterton set Eamon O Donnchadha for the score of the half in the 24th minute.
Boyle's second point from play completed Kerry's first-half total in the 26th minute.

Meath responded with three points on the spin with sub James Kelly levelling matters in added time. Having gained parity by the break, 0-5 to 0-5, Kerry looked better placed to make it three wins from three outings.

Both teams have two fixtures left: Meath are away to Antrim on Sunday, February 23 and host Mayo the following Sunday, March 1. Kerry travel to Wicklow next weekend and wrap up their round robin fixtures at home to Antrim on Sunday, March 1.
