Cork selector Diarmuid O'Sullivan has hailed the response his players had to Waterford's goal in last Sunday's Munster SHC semi-final.

The Deise looked set to kick on midway through the second half when they goaled through Maurice Shanahan, but Cork hit back and outscored their opponents by eight points to three for the remainder of the match.

O'Sullivan told the Waterford News & Star that the goal should have been prevented in the first place, but he admitted that the response impressed him.

"The funny thing is that it's a goal we could have prevented. It was probably the sloppiest thing we could have prevented all day," said O'Sullivan.

"We came down the field and we got the next point that was the big thing. Before, we would have crumbled. We showed great resilience. Even when Colm (Spillane) went off and Waterford got a score, we went down the field and got the next two points."
