Tubbercurry visit Collooney handball club

December 03, 2015

On Friday last (November 27th) the Girls from newly formed Tubbercurry handball club visited the Collooney handball 40 x 20 facility and played a number of games on the impressive 40 x 20 court.

Their parents were very impressed with the warm, bright setting and complimented the club on the wonderful effort that went into delivering this facility for Collooney. At present the girls play in St. Bridget's Hall in Tubbercurry and everyone agreed that playing in Collooney was a much more pleasant  experience.

"This alley represents the level of facilities that people expect nowadays and if we want to continue to attract young players into the game we must try to provide warm bright venues indoors. Handball is an excellent game for all round agility and fitness levels, a great lead in to tennis ,badminton etc, because of the hand eye co-ordination it develops,"  said John Cawley a teacher in the Holy Family National School in Tubbercurry.

The group expressed their thanks to Shane Bruen and Collooney Handball Club for hosting them.
