anyone else think the tactical fouling by Dublin was evident? lowballplease (Galway) - Posts: 885 - 16/09/2019 10:44:08 2235975 Link 0 0 |
Thought it was horrible to watch to be honest, much too negative. Dublin had an off day and there was a huge opportunity for Galway if they had been a little more courageous tactically alanalan (UK) - Posts: 191 - 17/09/2019 17:50:53 2236729 Link 2 0 |
Agree with this. A missed opportunity. Dublin played like a team who had peaked for Cork in semi final and struggled to reach same level against Galway. Defensively Galway did well but didn't seem to have any attacking emphasis at all, seemed afraid to take on scoring chances. Keep possession at all costs seemed to have been drilled into them. Best scoring forwards should stay close to goals as often as possible. Galway went away from this too often. Reality is Galway got a nice draw into final this yr. Really only had to beat Mayo to get there and were fortunate to do that in semi. Wont be as lucky over next 2 years with the draw.

Awful stuff to watch, played far too defensively. Felt really sorry for the players, must have been very frustrating for them. Tactically it didn't work as it was supposed to prevent goals, yet conceded like last year, would have been better to have had a high press & run at them directly with the skill they had, awful to see players like Olivia Divilly, Megan Glynn, Tracy Leonard playing so deep. The Kerry men on the first day proved that the high press & running at them directly can break the Dublin senior men's system, which the Dublin ladies also play. Lost opportunity. moc.dna (Galway) - Posts: 898 - 17/09/2019 22:20:20 2236886 Link 1 0 |
My personal opinion is the girls will learn a lot from this. Everyone is saying if galway pushed up it would be different. Imo if the girls pushed up they would score more but Dublin would then put up a cricket score. I know its not nice to watch, but u have to realize its not mayo they were playing. If the girls get the balance right and learn from this brilliant.

This year galway had beaten mayo twice and avoided cork dublin donegal all the way to the final so with that in mind i feel they did very well to be competitive against the dubs in the final- mayo are no longer the benchmark minus carnacon players and we just got ovber them... need more expansive game to beat the dubs and that will take time and players committing to 3/4 year cycle of work squares_edge (Galway) - Posts: 559 - 18/09/2019 13:06:46 2237090 Link 1 0 |
