Connacht club JFC: Kilmaine's first half goals see off Glenamaddy

November 02, 2019

Three first half goals helped Kilmaine overcome Glenamaddy.

Three first half goals paved the way for Kilmaine's 4-8 to 2-11 Connacht club JFC quarter-final victory over Glenamaddy in heavy conditions at Tuam Stadium.

The Mayo runners-up led by 3-7 to 0-6 at the break thanks to green flags from Cathal Murphy, Jarlath Mullin and Colin Hughes, with Murphy's strike coming inside 20 seconds.

Glenamaddy resumed with a brace of McDara Geraghty frees and an Aidan Geraghty effort from play before a fourth Kilmaine goal from Adam Barrett looked to have settled it. But the Galway kingpins refused to throw in the towel and two late goals from Conor Raftery left Kilmaine hanging on for a semi-final meeting with Roscommon's Ballinameen next weekend.
