Cillian McDaid and Martin Farragher have been drafted into the Galway starting 15 for today's trip to the LIT Gaelic Grounds to face neighbours Mayo (throw-in 7pm).
Monivea Abbey's McDaid replaces the injured Gareth Bradshaw, while Corofin's Farragher has been rewarded for his excellent club form with a place at full-forward. The duo will make their first championship starts at this level.
Kevin Walsh has had his midfield options decimated by injuries since the Connacht SFC final defeat to Roscommon with trio Cein D’Arcy, Fiontain O Curraoin and Ciaran Duggan ruled out.
But there is some good news for the Tribesmen as Tom Flynn has recovered from a foot injury to partner Michael Daly in the middle.
Galway (All-Ireland SFC v Mayo): Ruairi Lavelle; Eoghan Kerin, Sean Andy O Ceallaigh, Liam Silke; Gary O'Donnell, Cillian McDaid, John Daly; Tomas Flynn, Michael Daly; Peter Cooke, Shane Walsh, Johnny Heaney; Antaine O’Laoi, Martin Farragher, Ian Burke.
