Galway are through the Connacht minor football championship final after cruising by Leitrim with an emphatic 5-25 to 1-4 victory in Tuam this evening.
Nathan Grainger’s goal five minutes before half-time sent the holders in leading at the break by 1-12 to 0-2 and the one-way traffic got worse for the visitors in the second-half.
Four more goals over the next 30 minutes, including one from Tomo Culhane who finished with 1-10, ensured the young Tribesmen a place in the western province’s decider.
They’ll now face the winners of Sligo and Mayo after the Yeats men pulled off a thrilling victory over Roscommon at Markievicz Park.
Michael Duffy’s side finished 2-15 to 4-7 winners over the Rossies to book their semi-final date with the Heather County this Wednesday night.
The visitors looked to be in control when leading by 3-4 to 0-8 at the interval, with their goals coming from Mark Purcell, Aaron Oyiki and Adam McDermott, but Sligo found another gear after the restart.
A brace of goals from Gavin Duffy turned the game on its head as the hosts went on to create a five-point margin which Roscommon could only trim down to a pair via a consolation goal from Patrick Gavin at the finish.
