O Sé defends Galway's style of play

Tomás O Sé says criticism of Galway's style of play is unjust.

Manager Kevin Walsh has been castigated by some for moving away from Galway's traditional brand of attacking football to a more defensive style of play, but writing in the Irish Independent ahead of tomorrow's Connacht SFC semi-final against Sligo, O Sé notes how it's getting results.

"I've heard some people wondering lately about Kevin Walsh and Galway and it strikes me that they have incredibly short memories. After all, it's not that long ago some Galway footballers thought it more attractive to head across the Atlantic for summer than stay around and play championship," he states.

"Under Walsh, Galway have broken Mayo's dominance in Connacht and he brought them to last year's All-Ireland semi-final. Sure, he's still trying to strike the right balance in terms of attacking football and being water-tight at the back. But every year on Walsh's watch, Galway have been getting conspicuously better.

"Once that's happening, you're still on the right road."
