HL1B: Tribesmen return to winning ways

February 17, 2019

Dublin's Cian O'Callaghan and Conor Whelan of Galway

Galway proved that their draw against Carlow last time out was a nothing more than a blip with a six-point defeat of Dublin in Pearse Stadium today.

Nine players made the scoresheet as the Tribesmen recorded a 0-20 to 1-11 success over Mattie Kenny’s charges.

Joe Canning contributed eight points (all frees) to his side’s winning tally while Cathal Mannion chipped in with four points.

Danny Sutcliffe netted the game’s only goal in the 15th minute but the visitors trailed by 1-4 to 0-13 at the break.

The 6,893 supporters that passed through the turnstiles witnessed a spirited performance by the team in sky blue but the Tribesmen were able to keep them at arm’s length.
