Corofin put on an exhibition in disposing of Clann na nGael in today’s Connacht Club SFC semi-final at Dr Hyde Park.
The reigning Connacht and All-Ireland champions ran out comfortable 4-22 to 0-7 winners to book a final date with Mayo’s Ballintubber who defeated Aughawillan by 3-11 to 1-8.
First-half goals from Colin Brady and Micheal Lundy set the tone for this runaway success and the second-half followed a similar pattern with Jason Leonard raising two green flags.
The home side’s cause wasn’t helped by the dismissal of Ultan Harney at the end of the opening period and a black card shown to Donie Shine but, from their point of view, the damage was done by that stage.
The game was effectively over as a contest at the halfway stage with the Galway men 2-10 to 0-3 to the good.
Kevin O’Brien’s charges made light of the absence of injured All-Star Ian Burke and Daithi Burke, who is in Australia with the Galway hurlers, to qualify for their fifth provincial final in-a-row.
