Donal Ó Fatharta expressed frustration at a number of refereeing decisions which went against Galway when the All-Ireland MFC final was in the melting pot.

The sides were level four times in the second half before a strong Kerry finish secured an historic five-in-a-row of Tom Markham Cups.

"We have put so much work in on our tackling. There were some tackles out there where I felt the referee got Kerry out of jail a little bit. He just gave them that momentum," the Galway manager is quoted as saying in the Irish Daily Star.

"Look, we all feel like that when we lose. I don't think it was the winning or losing of anything."

Ó Fatharta admitted that Kerry were worthy winners: "Hats off to Kerry. We knew they were a super team, we were trying to get our guys ready and look, every team is beatable but they just had a little more quality than us, definitely, all over the pitch.

"Some of our guys played beyond where they were at the start of the year so there's visible improvement there and when you are beaten by a better team, it is easier to take."
